How to Sell Things on eBay – Taking Pictures of Multiple Items

They say that a picture is worth a thousand words, and this holds true when you sell things on eBay as well. It is near impossible to sell things on eBay without a good picture. While most of the time, taking pictures of one item is rather simple, taking pictures when you’re trying to sell a lot of mixed items can be a lot more difficult.

One of the most often asked questions is how many items to include in your picture. This really depends on the types of items that you’re taking pictures of. Sometimes, trying to fit too many items in one picture will take away from the details of individual items. Not only that, but it can also make the pile of items look like a jumbled mess.

Typically, with larger items such as t-shirts or other types of clothing, it’s best to only have between 2 to 4 items per picture. This preserves the details of the items while allowing the buyer to be able to see each one clearly enough to make a buying decision.

Medium sized items, such as DVDs or CDs can usually all fit in one picture. Stacking the items in the picture to where people can read their spines is a popular method of taking pictures of such items as well as laying them out one aside the other in some sort of orderly fashion. Typically, people know what the DVD or CD case looks like, so this is no big deal. As long as you put a list of what DVDs or CDs are in the auction, this is an acceptable way of listing large lots of such items.

For smaller items, such as jewelry, you can usually also fit multiple items into one photo, though the details of the photo need to be superb. For costume jewelry, it’s common to see a picture of a pile of jewelry as the main picture, and then several more detailed pictures of individual pieces. It’s highly recommended to do your photos this way if you plan on selling large lots of jewelry.

Remember that your picture and your item title will be the two deciding factors in whether or not a potential buyer is going to click on your auction, and the picture is the more important of the two. Put your clearest overall, best representing, picture forward. That is a large piece of the success puzzle when you sell things on eBay.
